Hope and transformation among the fishing community in Uganda!
A casual visit to Buvuma Islands gave birth to an idea that saw the formation of Ettendo Rural Initiatives and Response Outreaches (Eriro). Over the time we have engaged with the community to restore hope and encourage development among folks in many fishing villages.
Despite being endowed with a lot of natural resources the fishing communities in Uganda have for the longest time been left out in terms of service delivery due to their geographical location. Access to these areas especially the islands is a major challenge rendering them “Hard-to-Reach.”

In many of the places on the islands;
roads are impassable and/or almost nonexistent, health centers and school services if at all there are in sorry state. People in fishing communities are poor and marginalized.
Mission
To empower vulnerable communities through supporting people-centered health, social and economic activities for sustainable development.
